It exists as certainly as Guitar Hero and turntables and electronic music exist…I mean…oh great why am I referencing Virginia again?

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick verbally confirmed the existance of a rumored new Guitar Hero spinoff, this time focused at DJ’ing. Though this seems like it actually might be a bit less like Beatmania, and maybe a bit more like the extremely excellent Sega arcade game Crackin’ DJ, which seems like even more of a DJ simulator than Beatmania is (yes, even you Digitank System, Checkin’ You Out, etc), this is why we should either generically call Beatmania a “rhythm action game” rather than a “DJ game”, or just flat-out call it a music game.

Anyway, at the rate we’re going its probably going to overshadow anything Konami ever made and be treated as extremely revolutionary as usual, and have any future North American Beatmania attempts be labeled as “DJ Hero knockoffs” by X-Play.
