In what is a pretty shocking event for even general gamers, multiple sources have confirmed that composer Akira Yamaoka will be leaving Konami. We do not know where he is going, maybe wanting to pursue a solo career or going back to freelance work but still, this is quite sad.

Yamaoka’s most prominent role at Konami had been his role as the main composer for the Silent Hill series. Of course, Yamaoka had some songs appear in Bemani games too,  including his opening theme to Silent Hill 3 (which appeared on the dreaded US PlayStation 2 version of DDR Extreme, and later SuperNOVA), and some other interesting original songs. Especially iFUTURELIST, which was the crowing moment of bizarre on DistorteD for sure.

More updates when we get them of course

That's weird, he's been there since the early 90's and I love him, but sometimes people need to move on. It's not like his old music is going away
